Combine cider, cinnamon, cloves and salt in a large saucepan. Squeeze the juice from the halved orange into the pan and add the peels. Bring to a simmer, then remove from heat and let steep for 10-15 minutes.
Strain the cider mixture into a pitcher and stir in the bourbon. Refrigerate at least 2 hours.
Pour the punch into tall glasses filled with ice. Garnish with orange slices.
